My careers span four decades as an IT Manager, Business Analyst, Accountant, ERP Implementation Coordinator and Website developer. I have coached and mentored teams at engineering companies, in secondary education, software development organizations and the manufacturing industry.
I like to encourage people to thoroughly learn the tools of the trade – such as the features of a new ERP software system – to make them more effective in their jobs.
My philosophy is that people should enjoy their work and be able to have balance in their lives. I encouraged people to give their best effort always and be professional in everything they do.
I also promoted frequent breaks to socialize - to surf the web and learn something new every day. You could always find my department by following the sounds of music and laughter. Yet the teams that I managed were always the most focused and productive in the company.
I believe that the more we know and the better we communicate, the more effective we are in our life’s work. I preach my “five Cs” everywhere I go – Communication, Cooperation, Common sense, Collaboration and Continuous learning.
After twenty years of working for large corporations in senior management positions, I finally opted out of the corporate rat race. I moved from Calgary, Alberta to the British Columbia Interior to experience small town living.
Here I enjoy offering my seasoned expertise to small businesses locally as well as consulting globally and developing websites from the comfort of my office at home.
I am semi-retired but I still love to work and to volunteer my time. I happily offer my business expertise in the community to fund raise and manage projects. I chaired the Enderby Economic Development Committee, was District Director for the BC Chamber of Commerce and I am the Programme Manager for a multicultural society.
Life on the farm
I work from my hobby farm in Armstrong, BC and divide my time between looking after the animals and staying in touch with the whole world from my office chair.
